A shake of the head from Sandy Stewart, the Airdrie manager, as he headed down the tunnel revealed the exasperation of a manager whose side had taken a deserved lead, then lost two daft goals before stealing an equaliser on the full time whistle.
Such is football and Ian McCall the Queens boss described the loss of two goals as ''crazy'' and said '' losing an equaliser on the 90th minute is like losing a game''. He conceded though that a draw was a fair result.
Airdrie though were the better team through out and only their failure to finish off moves with a goal prevented what could have been a comfortable win at home.
The home star was Graeme Holmes who at last produced the form that he is known to have. Playing through the middle he proved a nightmare for the visitors and his penetrating runs were causing havoc amongst the visitors defence.
Airdrie had a goal chopped off on the half hour mark when Stephen McKeown prodded home from close range but the referee had already blown for a hand ball.
On sixty five minutes Airdrie got their nose in front. A cringing error by Jim Thomson allowed Brian McPhee to break through and with great calm the striker shot home from 18 yards.
However, nine minutes later Kevin Christie was judged to have fouled John O'Neil and a penalty was awarded. O'Neil took the kick and the scores were level.
A greater shock was to follow seven minutes from time when Murray Henderson bundled the ball over the line when keeper Stephen Robertson looked to have covered the ball!
It is though to Airdrie's credit that they lifted themselves and powered forward and in the 90th minute substitute Garry Tierney headed home the equaliser from a Willie McLaren free kick.
