Diamonds denied as Sons fight back
Dumbarton recorded a vital 2-1 away victory over Airdrie at the foot of the Irn-Bru Scottish First Division.
The side rock-bottom of the league made the worst possible start when the Diamonds took the lead after just 11 minutes, Gregor Buchanan heading into the path of Ryan Donnelly who opened the scoring from inside the penalty area.
That lead lasted just 13 minutes, Marc McCusker's left-footed strike drawing Dumbarton level in an eventful start at New Broomfield.
And the turnaround was complete after 33 minutes, when Mark Gilhaney crossed from the right wing and James Lister grabbed a vital goal from the centre of the penalty area.
The strugglers then had Jamie Ewings to thank for earning them maximum points, the keeper making a fantastic save from William McLaren in the second half.
