Phillip Johnston's double helped Airdrie to a 3-0 win in their Second Division opener against Dumbarton.
Ryan Donnelly came close for the hosts in the opening minute before Johnston opened the scoring. Fraser Keast teed up a cross for his midfield partner to drill home from 12 yards with just five minutes played.
The lead was doubled soon after by Donnelly, who powered in a rebound after Derek Holmes had headed against the post.
Scott Agnew almost gave the Sons a route back into the match but his 30-yard effort thundered against the woodwork.
Stephen Grindlay made a succession of saves before being beaten again midway through the second half. Keast was again the provider for Johnston as the midfielder struck a shot into the roof of the net.
Dumbarton nearly grabbed a late consolation as Alan Lithgow volleyed against the crossbar.
